By now you've probably heard of Foxtel's newish streaming service, Binge. Foxtel's always had a reputation for being fairly expensive - especially if you want to watch everything - so it's fair you may have made the same assumption about Binge. Fortunately, that's not the case.
We've broken down what you'll pay for each Binge plan, plus what you need to know before you sign up.
What does Binge cost?
Binge pricing starts at $10 per month for the entry-level service in standard definition. $14 per month gets you high definition, and $18 per month gives you even more simultaneous streams. No matter how much you spend, you'll get access to every TV show and movie on Binge. Spending more just gets you higher quality streaming and increases the number of devices you can stream on at once.
Here's what you get with each subscription tier:
Binge pricing
| Basic | Standard | Premium | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price per month | $10 | $14 | $18 |
| Resolution | SD | HD | HD |
| Simultaneous streams | 1 | 2 | 4 |

Which Binge plan is best for me?
Which Binge plan you choose depends on how many people in your home will be watching, how you plan to watch (on the go, at home), and your preferred resolution.
If you're planning on watching at home and have a decent sized TV - 40 inches or larger - we'd recommend the $14 per month standard Binge plan, so you can stream in high definition. Standard definition video on a large TV tends to look rather unsightly.
However, if you're just watching on your smartphone, tablet, or laptop, you might be able to get away with the entry-level Binge plan.
If you're sharing your Binge subscription with your entire family, the Premium plan could be worth it. This means four different users can stream Binge at once on four separate devices without interrupting anyone else.
No matter which tier you choose, you're able to cancel, upgrade, or downgrade your plan at any time. No lock-in contracts mean you can adjust your Binge plan at any time.

What else do I need to know about Binge?
One important consideration before you subscribe to Binge is your NBN plan. You'll need speeds of at last 2.5Mbps to get a reliable stream, although at least 5Mbps is optimal. If you're streaming in high definition, you'll be burning over 3GB an hour, so you'll want to be mindful of your data allowance. Your mobile plan data allowance is also important if you're streaming on the go.
At home, we tend to recommend NBN 50 plans as a solid choice for avid streamers. They're fast enough that you won't have any buffering issues, there'll be enough capacity left for other people in your household to have a great online experience, and they're great value.
